A Powerful Partnership: Mighty Writer and Widgit
We’re delighted to share an exciting new collaboration between Mighty Writer and Widgit, bringing together two approaches grounded in visual, accessible language.
Both organisations are built on the same belief — that children benefit from language that is clear, visual and accessible. When children can see language, they are more confident using it, and that confidence supports learning, inclusion and independence.
By bringing together Mighty Writer’s structured, visual approach to oracy, sentence‑building and writing with Widgit’s widely recognised symbols, this partnership strengthens how children understand, organise and express their ideas.
New Widgit‑supported Mighty Writer toolbars
As the first step in this partnership, two new Mighty Writer image toolbars have been developed using Widgit symbols:

🔹 Daily Routines
These toolbars are designed to work flexibly in real classrooms — whether used whole‑class, in small groups or to support individual children. They provide a shared visual language that supports understanding, communication and consistency.
The Emotional Regulation toolbar supports children to recognise feelings, communicate needs and develop emotional literacy. This is an important foundation for learning and writing, helping children make sense of their experiences and express themselves more clearly.
The Daily Routines toolbar supports structure and predictability throughout the school day. Making routines visual can reduce uncertainty, support transitions and help children feel more secure and ready to learn.
Designed for Everyday Classroom Use
A key strength of this partnership is its practical classroom impact. These resources are designed to be used, revisited and embedded into daily practice, supporting inclusion without adding unnecessary workload.
By combining Mighty Writer and Widgit, visual communication becomes clearer, more consistent and more purposeful. Together, we believe this collaboration will help schools get even more value from both resources while supporting children to access language and learning with greater confidence.
