A Fun EYFS Show and Tell Oracy Activity
EYFS Oracy Lesson Plan
This lesson is all about helping children talk, listen, and share in a fun and relaxed way. It’s designed for ages 3–5 and lasts around 30 minutes, giving everyone time to join in without feeling rushed.
Theme: All About Me – Sharing My Favourite Toy
Children love talking about things that matter to them! This theme encourages them to share stories about their favourite toy, helping them build confidence and learn to express themselves. It’s a great way to develop language skills while celebrating their individuality.
Focus Area: Communication & Language
The session focuses on:
- Speaking – giving children the chance to describe and talk about their toy.
- Listening – learning to pay attention when others speak.
- Understanding – using and recognising descriptive words.
By the end of the session, children will feel more confident using words to share ideas and respond to others.
Learning Objectives

- Sing enthusiastically: “Hello everyone, it’s good to see you!” to create an inviting atmosphere.
Main Activity (Talk Time)
- Pass the talking prop around so each child has a turn to speak.
- Invite small groups of 3–4 children to describe their toy or recall it from memory if they didn’t bring one.
Use probing questions such as:
- “What’s your toy’s name?”
- “What does it look like?”
Encourage active listening by prompting children to give positive feedback to peers.
Group Reflection (Listening and Responding)
- Praise children for effective listening and taking turns.
